Mike Hadaway leads Education Intelligence work that brings data governance, analytics, interoperability, modernization, and applied artificial intelligence together for public education. Across more than twenty-five years, he has worked from the vendor, agency, product, architecture, delivery, partnership, policy, and consulting sides of education technology.

The perspective
The technology is only half the assignment.
Mike’s work is translation: translating enterprise capability into approaches public agencies can sustain, technical architecture into decisions leaders can defend, and the needs of educators into systems that respect the complexity of their work.
He has built products and sold them, led delivery and answered for it, negotiated the partnerships that made products possible, and sat on the agency side of the table watching it all arrive. That range provides a practical view of what technology can accomplish and what organizations must do for it to succeed.
The goal is not impressive technology. It is useful capability that public education can trust.

In my own words
Most agencies already have data. That is not the same as having knowledge.
The headache begins when information is scattered across systems, definitions do not agree, ownership is unclear, and people cannot tell which answer to trust. Adding another tool may make the diagram more impressive. It does not make the problem disappear.
Useful data work combines technology with governance, shared meaning, and clear responsibility. The same is true for artificial intelligence. AI can move quickly, but speed increases the value of trusted sources, expert review, and a person who remains accountable for the result.
I want education professionals to spend less time reconciling reports, searching fragmented systems, and rebuilding the same answer. The goal is to return useful knowledge, better tools, and time to the people serving students.
